RESS SUSTAINABILITY HUB
RESH is committed to advancing sustainability initiatives. Together, we promote and showcase best practices aiming to drive significant change, protect the environment, and cultivate a sustainable and equitable world.
What is RESH's purpose?
A Sustainability Hub
The Ress Sustainability Hub (RESH) is a non-profit sustainability organization dedicated to supporting different initiatives in the field of sustainability. Our primary objectives are to promote and showcase good practices in three key areas:
Key Areas
Governance: We focus on integrity, decision-making processes, and compliance to ensure transparent and accountable governance.
Community Development: We emphasize gender equality, inclusion, child safeguarding, and human rights to foster thriving and equitable communities.
Environmental Stewardship: We prioritize climate change, biodiversity, energy usage, emissions reduction, sustainable procurement, waste management, and pollution control to protect and sustain our environment.
Additionally, we foster a vibrant community of practitioners who seek to connect with others, share best practices, and make progress together. RESH contributes to the positive impact on society by focusing on the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework. Through our other initiatives, we strive to address pressing sustainability challenges and drive meaningful change.
Our Goals
RESH, as an NGO, is driven by two fundamental goals that lie at the core of its mission:
1. Showcasing Good Practices.
We aim to highlight and promote exemplary practices in governance, community development, and environmental stewardship. This involves identifying and spotlighting organizations, initiatives, and individuals that have achieved noteworthy results in these areas. By sharing their success stories, we inspire others and provide practical examples of how sustainability can be integrated into various sectors and contexts.
2. Supporting Practitioners' Progress.
We are committed to facilitating the progress of practitioners who are passionate about sustainability. Our goal is to provide a platform for them to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange knowledge and best practices, and foster collaboration. By creating a supportive community, we encourage continuous learning, improvement, and innovation among sustainability practitioners.
Other Goals
In addition to these key goals, RESH recognizes the importance of addressing a broader range of sustainability issues. Some additional sustainability goals that the NGO could consider incorporating into its mission include:
- Promoting Social Equity and Inclusion.
- Advancing Climate Action.
- Encouraging Circular Economy Practices.
- Ensuring Responsible Supply Chains.
- Protecting Biodiversity and Ecosystems.
By incorporating these additional sustainability goals into its mission, RESH can broaden its impact and contribute to addressing a wider range of sustainability challenges.

Who founded RESH?
Who founded RESH?
Established in 2024, and based in Kampala, Uganda, Ress Sustainability Hub is dedicated to promoting and showcasing good practices in key areas of governance, community development, and environmental stewardship. Its founder Jaffar Obeid Kamulegeya aim was to contribute to the positive impact of society in Uganda focusing on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria and through initiatives, that address pressing sustainability challenges and drive meaningful change. From the outset, Hamzah Kivumbi, Rukia Namazzi and Fatia Kamulegeya provided guidance to the organization as founding members.
Sustainability
The idea of founding Ress Sustainability Hub took shape during extensive discussions in 2022 and 2023. The founder recognized the lack of awareness of sustainability and ESG frameworks and the challenges of integrating sustainability issues in Uganda. He felt a responsibility to support those without knowledge of sustainability and practitioners passionate about the subject.
At that time, Jaffar Obeid Kamulegeya authored the Refugee Sustainable Solution and worked in the sustainable finance team of one of the largest environmental organizations in the world. His experience and insights were instrumental in shaping the vision for Ress Sustainability Hub, aiming to bridge the knowledge gap and promote sustainable practices in Uganda.

What Does Ress from RESH Mean?
Ress is an abbreviation for Refugee Sustainable Solution, a concept derived from the master's thesis of our founder. The Refugee Sustainable Solution focuses on restoring stability and providing dignified livelihoods for displaced people.
The Importance of Addressing Forced Migration in ESG Investments
With Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investments gaining momentum, one of today's most pressing social challenges—forced migration—often goes unaddressed. The urgent need for support for refugees is frequently overlooked. Whether or not ESG investment funds adopt the Refugee Sustainable Solution, it is crucial to recognize that forced migration remains a blind spot in the industry. Including it as a reliable indicator allows for meaningful engagement with corporations and fund providers
Benefits of Including Refugee Sustainable Solutions in ESG Investments
Incorporating Refugee Sustainable Solutions in ESG investments can help source, structure, and leverage opportunities beneficial to refugees and their host communities. It also supports entrepreneurs within displaced communities, building a pipeline to prevent forced migration through resilience.
The Impact of a Refugee Sustainable Solution
Implementing a Refugee Sustainable Solution in ESG investments can enhance refugees' resilience, empowerment, and protection, guiding them toward a sustainable future.
